Throughout CELTIC KNOT, history is twisted with the fictional story.
Here are the author’s thoughts and notes about how she chose her threads and wove them together.
She will be building this section, adding notes from time to time about characters, settings, timelines, and events.
CHARACTERS:
Mrs. (Mary Ann) ‘Nancy' Trotter: Nancy Trotter is a fictional character. The author invented the details of her backstory, her personality, and her personal story as represented in the novel.
There was a historical Mrs. Mary Ann Trotter running a boarding house on Sparks St. in Ottawa, where McGee was shot. She was a widow who had resettled in Ottawa. At the time of the assassination she had two children living with her: her son, Willy, and a daughter. I have deliberately not drawn from her personal or family history, aside from the above-mentioned instances.
